The Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption Center (ROLACC) & the ACE Award Special Interest Group: Empowering Women to Confront Corruption (EWCC) of the Award Winners Network is pleased to announce the Call for Abstracts for the first International Conference on Global Perspectives on Women and Corruption.
The Conference will be held on the margins of the conference of state parties in Doha, Qatar
Conference Theme
The Conference theme is Global Perspectives on women and Corruption. The theme will address a range of critically important issues relating to different experiences of women in relation to corruption. Research shows that corruption affects women differently from men. Women are more vulnerable to victimization from corruption due to the unequal power relations between men and women (Fuentes Téllez, 2023), because women are often subject to gender norms where they have limited social and institutional status and are forced to adhere to norms around corruption (Kubbe & Merkle, 2022). At the same time corruption exacerbates gender power dynamics, limiting women’s access to decision making, resources, goods, services, and their human rights (Cvetanoska & Kubbe, 2022).
The conference will examine a range of themes that unpack the various ways that women experience corruption in different contexts, as well as anti-corruption gender specific measures to overcome inequalities. The conference papers will also feature in a peer-reviewed edited book collection to be published after the conference. If you wish for your paper to be considered for publicated in the book, please indicate this with the submission of your abstract.
Speakers include some of the leading international thinkers on women and corruption, and the conference will feature keynote addresses, academic and practitioner presentations and panel discussions. We are inviting abstracts for paper presentations addressing the broad conference theme in any of these particular areas:

Note that abstract ideas that extend beyond these thematic areas but which are within the broad conference focus will also be considered.
Submit a Conference Abstract: Abstracts for the conference should be emailed to Sig@aceaward.com and should be no more than 300 words. The deadline for submission is 24 November 2024. Authors of accepted abstracts will be notified by 24 December 2024. Please note that late abstract submissions will not be considered.
